Selling Real Ale to the Houses of Parliament
We're celebrating this week as yet again one of our fine Yorkshire ales will be making it's way to Westminster. F.I.D.O. or Fog Investigation Dispersal Operation (now you know why it was shortened to F.I.D.O.), will be appearing on the Stranger's Bar in the House of Commons the 1st week in December.
We have to thank Kate Dawson the manager of our pub the Ferns Farm Hotel, Canaby for all her hard work alongside Sir Greg Knight MP for East Yorkshire for getting our ale on the bar. Kate is part of the newly formed committee Carnaby Airfield Memorial whose aim is to raise enough funds to erect a fitting memorial at Carnaby Airfield which played a significant role in WW2. The airfield was an emergency landing strip and was fitted with fog dispersal equipment commonly known as F.I.D.O. This allowed aircraft to land even during the heaviest fog, the airfield was opened in 1944 and had over 1500 emergency landings by the end of the war.
To help with their fund-raising efforts we collaborated with the comittee to create a brand new cask ale called F.I.D.O. a light bitter with a hint of smoke and fire ABV 4.2% with 5p for every pint sold donated to Carnaby Airfield Memorial.
Wednesday 3rd December is the day we will officially be joining Kate and Sir Greg at the Houses of Parliament with Simon Lewis Head Brewer and Nick Waugh Tied Estate Manager representing the Brewery alongside our local MP Andrew Percy. We also have the very great pleasure of having the Rt Hon William Hague MP pulling the first pint.
It's a real honour and privilege to have our ale on such a high-profile bar, so check back for the photo's which will appear very soon!
